Stories told by movement, a Chinese pole and a jumping board, an unpredictable clown, as well as circus playground for children and adults. All of this will be seen at the programme organised by the festival “Re Rīga!” during the Riga City Festival on August 18 and 19 in Esplanade, on the square at the Latvian National Museum of Art.
Visitors will be able to watch three performances, and children in the meantime will be able to learn the basics of circus art at the playground provided by Riga Circus School.
Artists Manel Rosés and Nile Chords from SOON Company have met at the DOCH Stockholm School of Dance and Circus Arts. Their collaborative work “Gregarious” is a fine irony of the choices of today’s world when in the hurry, fighting for status, money, glory, forget about human values.
The circus performance of FISURA is based on the character called Murmuyo, which was created more than 15 years ago in Chile, to offer viewers new experience “outside frames” and with unlimited fantasy.
The HURyCAN performance ASUELTO is an attempt to understand life as an organism through a story of moving body that shows and shares what it is: airy and tangible, rational and sensitive, beautiful and ugly, and therefore alive.
In order to allow visitors of the Riga City Festival, especially the youngest ones, not only to see, but also to experience the circus themselves – Riga Circus School will have created a circus playground where you can try bucket stilts and pedals, relays, juggling with balls and much more.
Entrance to performances and activities is free of charge.
