SOON COMPANY – “GREGARIOUS” (SWEDEN)
Saturday, 18. august and Sunday 19, august at 16.00 Riga City Festival in Esplanade park near Latvian National museum of Art.
In English ‘gregarious’ animals are those who tend to live in herds or colonies, and ‘gregarious’ people tend to extrovert and enjoy social groups; they may even need to be part of a group to feel good.
In Spanish the ‘gregario’ is a team-leader’s supporter in road cycling, someone who works for the benefit of the team, rather than trying to win the race.
These meanings of the word inspired Manel Rosés and Nilas Kronlid — the acrobatic duo comprising Soon Company — to explore the human side of sports and the relationship between two friends, showing how they continuously switch between conflict and collaboration provoking absurd, poetic, and risky situations. The show was created in 2017 and includes circus disciplines such as the Chinese pole, the teeterboard, and acrobatics.
Entrance to performances and activities is free of charge.
