This year, the festival RE RE RIGA! will already begin in the middle of the week, on August 6th, and continue for four days – until August 9th.
RE RE RIGA! will again present a diverse program of open-air shows this year, including acrobatics, street theatre, performances and world music concerts. The shows will take place in city squares and the park at the Congress Hall, and the world music concerts – at the culture chalet “Esplanade 2014”. This year’s novelty is the special contemporary circus program in the Congress Hall.
The festival will open on August 6th with the concert performance “On the Amber Road…” by Laila Salins, American musician of Latvian origin, and her collective “TālaMana”, made up by ethno and jazz musicians of various ethnicities. They have been joined by the acclaimed percussionist Shane Shanahan (USA), collaborator of the famed cellist Yo-Yo Ma and one of the founders of the Asian ethno music project “Silk Road”. The concert performance “On the Amber Road…” has been created especially for the festival and will take the public on a journey along the ancient amber trade roads from the shores of the Baltic Sea through the Central Europe to the Mediterranean and even the Ancient Egypt.
