Circus school during RE RE RIGA! at the park near Riga Congress Centre
During the time of street art and world music festival “RE RE RIGA!” a circus school will be active at the park next to the Riga Congress Centre. It will be open for visitors of all ages on August, the 8th (from 17:00), and August, the 9th (from 14:00).
Circus school activities constantly available during both days:
• Participants of the project “Juggle the festival!” will teach how to create juggling balls as well as introduce attendants to the basics of juggling
• During afternoons, the circus school will offer lessons of various circus techniques, conducted by professionals and scholars from the Riga Circus as well as Daugavpils and Salaspils circus studios
• The youngest attendants of the circus school will be entertained by blowing soap bubbles, filling in circus-themed coloring pages and playing the board game “Circus”
Workshops and master classes:
Please, apply for master classes and workshops digitally before August, the 3rd. One can apply by sending an e-mail to cirks@reriga.lv, indicating your workshop or master class of choice, your age and occupation. Also, please add a short description of yourself and your physical preparation as well as the reasons why you want to take part in these particular activities.
Friday, August 8th, 17:00 – 19:00 and Saturday, August 9th, 15:00 – 16:30 as well as 17:00 – 18:30 (time and sequence of activities will be elaborated soon).
In partnership with association “Next Door Circus”. the festival presents master classes of aerial acrobatics with members of the company “Manor House” (USA/France) – Sebastian Kann and Natalie Oleinik. Suitable for all ages.
There will be 3 master classes with graduates of The National Circus School in Montreal. Workshops are open for beginners who are interested in learning the basics of aerial acrobatics, as well as those who are already familiar with this discipline of circus art, and wish to find new use for their knowledge.
• Master class of aerial acrobatics (rope) with Natalie Oleinik Friday, 17:00-19:00
• Master class of aerial acrobatics (aerial ring) with Sebastian Kann Saturday, 15:00-16:30
• Master class of aerial acrobatics (improvisation) with Natalie Oleinik and Sebastian Kann Saturday, 17:00-18:30
There will be 2 workshops for different age groups. The participants will explore the basics of physical theatre and group improvisation as well as the development of stage characters within interactive theatre. At these workshops, one can acquire skills of imagination that connect the voice to the body; collective consciousness and improvisation will also be practiced. Part of a workshop will serve the purpose of creating a small flashmob in the urban environment of Riga.

Hula hoop dancing is a very special form of performance. Not only does it help keeping one’s body in shape, it also presents endless possibilities of visually lush stunts! This workshop will be a great opportunity to learn the basics of hula hoop dancing as well as the main stunts. Requirements: comfortable clothing, shoes without heels, a good mood and the capability of not giving up when faced with challenges!
