DEFRACTO “CROÛTE”
France

Physically engaged, hyper contextual, “Croûte” is the fruit of a decade of research on expressive juggling and physical humor.
Physically engaged, hyper contextual, “Croûte” is the fruit of a decade of research on expressive juggling and physical humor. “Croûte” is a site specific performance with multiple bodies, unpredictable juggling, and a ridiculous virtuosity. An improbable solo created for Guillaume Martinet, conceived by Mathilde Roy (external view), Dina Robert (internal view) and himself (without looking at himself).

Defracto was created in 2008 with the ambition of developing a body and juggling language. Since then, the artists have created 6 performances: “Cinétique Toc” (2008 & 2009), “Circuits Fermés” (2011), “Flaque” (2013), “Dystonie” (2017), “Yokaï Kemame” (2020), and “Croûte” (2021). The company was co-directed by Guillaume Martinet and Laure Caillat for 15 years until Laure left for new adventures in July 2023. Today, the company welcomes Loyse Delhomme to co-direction and takes a new turn by incorporating two visual arts artists: Margot Seigneurie, a visual artist, and Pierre Morel, a photographer. Together, they aim to create a structure that brings together, unites, and values our three areas of creation to develop the company’s body and juggling language. La Compagnie Defracto is currently developing in several areas: theory and teaching through the TAIJI project (set up with Maison des Jonglages & Circus next), a publishing project with Pierre Morel, and an exhibition project with Margot Seigneurie.

Defracto has participated before in the Re Riga! festivals – in 2014 with “Flaque” and in 2019 with their performance of “Dystonie”.
