WHS (Finland) – “Départ” / “Lähtö”
19:00 Concerthall – Palladium
The show “Départ” by Finnish troupe WHS will be a good example of the state of circus and theatre art in Finland. The performance brings to the stage lovers that have drifted apart and are now floating in the midst of illusions and dream-like imagery. Inspired by the stage illusions of 19th century magicians, the performance creates an enigmatic atmosphere alternating between tragedy and absurd humour. The piece will provide a unique theatre experience in which circus, magic, dance, clothing design, and visual arts merge.
There is a woman and a man, who have a complicated relationship. Confused, they stand on a stage, surrounded by clothes. Feelings and thoughts are expressed through the movement of their bodies – and the movement of the clothes, which have a life of their own.
“Départ” / “Lähtö” is the production of visual theatre & circus company WHS. Directed by magician and visual artist Kalle Nio.
