EDUARD HALIAS “THE PATH IS THE HAPPINESS” (WORK-IN-PROGRESS)
Latvia
Sometimes the greatest trick is not a somersault, but a return.
In the Rīgas cirks residency programme, Eduard Halias is creating a performance about ageing in art and life, and about the limits set by injury, society and one’s own thoughts. A sports acrobat and circus artist whose brilliant career was interrupted by injury, Eduards has spent several years searching for a way back to the stage.
What happens when the body no longer obeys as it once did, but the desire to perform remains? With gentle humour and a philosophical gaze, the performance reminds us that circus is also a space to laugh at oneself, experiment and try again. And again.
